Overview

This course will introduce the learner to the various products and practices associated with consumer lending.  Some of these products include secured and unsecured loans, mortgages, non-real estate secured credit products, and small business loans. After completing this program, the learner will understand:

  • How to differentiate between the different types of collateral.
  • The features available to consumer credit products.
  • Which unsecured credit products are available to borrowers.

Contents

T1. Secured and Unsecured Loans: This topic will educate the learner on the circumstances of loans secured with collateral and loans not backed by the borrowers assets.

T2. Types of Collateral: This topic will detail the various types of collateral, including endorser, real estate, savings, and more.

T3. Consumer Credit Products: This topic will introduce the learner to the features available to consumer credit products, such as competitive rates, amortization options, and payments, in addition to how consumer credit pricing is determined.

T4. Overview of Mortgages: This topic will provide a definition of mortgage and an overview of mortgage category classifications, such as government and conforming.

T5. Types of Mortgages: This topic will provide descriptions of the various types of mortgages available to a wide range of borrowers, including FHA, VA, RHS, and others.

T6. Non-Real Estate Secured Credit Products: This topic will offer descriptions of secured non-real-estate loans, including, but not limited to, automobile installment loans, recreational vehicle installment loans, and recreational boat installment loans.

T7. Unsecured Credit Products: This topic will deliver a synopsis of unsecured loan products available to borrowers, including, but not limited to, overdraft protection and personal lines of credit.

T8. Small Business Loans: This topic will describe the secured and unsecured loans and card products available for small businesses.

Please note that any legal and compliance references in this course will pertain to US legislation.
