Overview

Whistleblowing shouldn't be considered as snitching or some form of betrayal. It's in a company's best interest to have a whistleblowing policy.

Not only will this policy help staff members to understand the boundaries of unacceptable conduct, but it makes it more likely that they will make disclosures within the company. This means that the company can identify and correct problems without the need for damaging revelations being made to the media or other outside bodies.

This module provides understanding and guidance on what whistleblowing is, how to make a disclosure and where to go for help and advice. It's not only workers who should be aware of their whistleblowing policy; managers should also understand it, so that they are able to act accordingly if a worker raises a problem, therefore, this module is designed for any individual in the organisation.
