Overview

RIDDOR is the reporting of an accident or incident that has occurred. It actually stands for Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous, Occurrences, Regulations or RIDDOR for short. RIDDOR is a legal requirement for the responsible person to record and report certain work-related illnesses and injuries and this short video shows you how!

Who should take this course

Only 'responsible persons' including employers, the self-employed and people in control of work premises should submit reports under RIDDOR. A responsible person might be a Head Teacher (as opposed to the Caretaker), a Principal Contractor, The Client or a site supervisor, office manager or a even a Landlord. Members of the public do not need to RIDDOR. If a member of the public goes to hospital only as a precaution and they have no reported injuries, it does not need to be logged under RIDDOR.

Why should I take this course

Safety first! In practice, RIDDOR promotes health and safety in the workplace, which helps to prevent accidents. RIDDOR places duties onto employers, the self-employed and people in control of work premises to report certain serious workplace accidents, occupational diseases and specified dangerous occurrences. It is a piece of UK health and safety legislation. It applies to all 'responsible persons'and requires them to correctly report and keep a record of certain injuries and incidents that happen at work. Therefore, as an employer or someone in a position of authority, it is important that you know exactly what the law says.
