Overview

Upon completion of this course learners to be able to explain their understanding of their role in the context of the codes of conduct that relate to the way they work. the course also covers rights and responsibilities.

Audience

This course is aimed at:

  • New members of staff in Healthcare Support Worker roles
  • New members of staff in Adult Social Care Worker roles
  • Any staff members who provide direct care to patients or individuals needing support
  • This course will also be useful for:
  • Staff moving into new roles within their organisation
  • Refreshing the knowledge of any member of staff

    About this course

    This course contains four bite-sized modules that use practice-based scenarios, videos and engaging questions to bring the subject to life.

  • The four modules are:
  • Understand your role
  • Work in ways that have been agreed with your employer
  • Understand working relationships in health and social care
  • Work in partnership with others
  • Each module takes between five and ten minutes to complete; the modules that contain video clips take a little longer. The knowledge element of standard 1 of the Care Certificate is covered in this course. 

    Objectives

    In this course you will learn:

  • How to find out about your main duties and responsibilities
  • The standards and codes of conduct that impact on the role of a Healthcare Support Worker or Adult Social Care Worker
  • What is meant by 'agreed ways of working'
  • How your previous experiences, attitudes and beliefs may affect the way you work
  • About employment legislation
  • The importance of reporting errors
  • What whistleblowing is
  • About the importance of working with others

  • How to access the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England:  The seven core values contained in the Code of Conduct:  Agreed ways of working and why they are important:  The effect on your work of your own experiences, beliefs and attitudes.
