Child abuse is a global problem with serious life-long consequences. Every year, between 500 million and 1.5 billion children worldwide endure some form of violence. This module promotes the welfare of children and offers guidance on how to protect them from harm.

Objectives

At the end of the course, trainees will be able to:

  • Define safeguarding
  • Distinguish between different types of abuse and their key indicators
  • Understand what to do to safeguard children in your care
  • Recognise the actions you should take if you’re concerned about a child’s safety and wellbeing
  • Recognise how a concern may come to your attention
