Overview

Fire is dangerous, but you know that. What you may not know is just how quickly it can escalate. As a fire warden, you’ll work around ignition sources every day. Faulty electricals, improperly stored waste, various heat sources and human behaviour all play a role in whether a fire breaks out. Spotting problems before they do? That’s down to you. This course focuses on fire risk from a fire warden’s perspective. From common fire hazards, how they start, and why they spread, to what fire and smoke do to people. Understanding consequences will help you to take hazards seriously every time and strengthen your awareness. You’re not here to fight fires. You’re here to stop them from happening.

Outline Learning Objectives:

This course will aim to help you explain the roles and responsibilities of a fire warden. Upon completing the course, you'll be able to:

• Identify different types of fire hazard and dangers so they can be mitigated
• Understand the fire triangle and be away of how to break it
• Describe the effects and consequences of fire
• Recognise the danger that smoke poses to your health
