Overview

This course is designed to give you an overview of the key health and safety topics you need to know in order to be safe and well at work. Completing this course will help you comply with our health and safety obligations as an employer, and your health and safety responsibilities as an employee.

By completing this course, you will develop an understanding of relevant health and safety law, the responsibilities placed on yourself and us, and how to prevent, deal with, and report accidents and risks.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand your health and safety responsibilities under the law
  • Identify and reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls in onsite environments
  • Use correct manual handling techniques to lift, carry, push and pull safely
  • Follow site safety and security procedures
  • Describe how to respond safely during a fire or evacuation
  • Take precautions when working near electrical hazards
  • Identify and handle hazardous substances safely
  • Recognise and follow the instructions on workplace safety signs
  • Learn basic first aid techniques to support someone who is ill or injured
  • Report incidents and near misses through the correct channels

Target Audience

This base course works well as a foundational overview of key health and safety topics. It's recommended as a first year introduction to all staff, before deep-diving into more specific health and safety topics in subsequent training cycles.
