Preventing Sexual Misconduct: A Guide for Students eLearning Course
Overview
This engaging, interactive course equips students with the knowledge and confidence to recognise sexual misconduct, understand and be able to apply the principles of consent.
Through realistic drama scenarios, interactive engagement and subject expert insights, learners explore the various types of sexual harassment and misconduct, including unlawful behaviour, how power dynamics, capacity and freedom affect consent. They learn how to handle rejection respectfully, understand what acts are unlawful, and know how to find and use their university's reporting and support systems in line with Condition E6.
Learning Objectives
- Identify what sexual misconduct looks like, including online sexual harassment
- Understand the FRIES principles and legal context of valid consent
- Recognise myths about consent
- Understand how power dynamics affect consent
- Know how to respond to rejection respectfully
- Recognise when behaviours are unlawful and must be reported
- Know how to locate reporting channels, policies and support services, and their learning provider's responsibilities under Condition E6
Target Audience
This course helps students understand their rights and responsibilities and contributes to a safer, more respectful campus.
